Associate Veterinarian

Dr. de Shawn Penturf grew up in Seminole, Oklahoma and obtained a Bachelor of Animal Science degree from Oklahoma State University.  She graduated from Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983. Go Pokes! After graduation, she worked five years as an associate veterinarian at Wisdom Animal Clinic in Texarkana, Texas.  She then opened Pleasant Grove Animal Hospital in Texarkana, Texas, which she owned and operated for 21 years.  After she sold her practice in 2010, she became a Public Health Veterinarian for the USDA until she retired in 2022.  She enjoys spending time with her husband, Drew Easterling and five dogs and five cats.  She also loves reading history, fishing, or catching up with her two adult daughters, Samantha and Lydia Penturf.  She is excited to bring her 27 years of small animal general practice and surgery experience to Nashville Animal Hospital.
